How to migrate a startup data room from DocSend

To migrate a data room from DocSend to Perseids: export the Space as a ZIP, upload it through Import Existing Data Room, let Perseids reconstruct the folder hierarchy, optionally attach your historical visitor CSV, then set permissions, NDA gating and watermarking before re-inviting your audience. You do not rebuild the structure by hand.

Before you start

  • Decide whether you are moving one Space or several.
  • Export the historical visitor activity if you want engagement history preserved as context.
  • List the recipients who currently have access and the level each should keep.

The steps

  1. 1In DocSend, export the Space contents as a ZIP archive.
  2. 2Export visitor activity to CSV if available and relevant.
  3. 3In Perseids, open Data Rooms and choose Import Existing Data Room.
  4. 4Upload the ZIP. Perseids reads the directory structure and reconstructs folders.
  5. 5Review the reconstructed tree; rename, merge or remove anything you no longer want.
  6. 6Attach the visitor CSV as historical context.
  7. 7Configure per-recipient permissions, NDA gating and watermarking.
  8. 8Issue new Perseids invitations to your audience. Old provider links are not carried over.

What changes after migration

Activity tracking restarts in Perseids from the moment of migration, with your imported CSV as historical background. Access is now per recipient and revocable, and the cap-table section of the room can be sourced from your Perseids ledger rather than a static export.

Will my folder structure survive the move?
Yes, provided the export preserves directories. Perseids reads the hierarchy from the ZIP and recreates it.
Can I keep historical viewer analytics?
